I
spent most of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area, moving to Taos,
New Mexico, in 2001. Besides shooting subjects that capture the spirit
and light of this beautiful region, I frequently travel to
my favorite destinations in the West and around the country.
I started shooting 35mm in 1980 doing underwater and topside production
stills for Al Giddings, when I worked as his producer and business associate.
My years of managing his film, video, and still photography library
and helping make features films, documentaries, and TV commercials was
instrumental in developing my sense of color and perfection in capturing
high quality images.
My current passion in photography is shooting for fine art prints, stock
and assignment work, especially in the 6x17 cm panoramic format. I find
the wide format of 617 very challenging to shoot and visually stimulating
as it more closely represents what our field of vision sees.
I have sold my images to New Mexico Magazine, New Mexico Visitor's Guide,
the Taos Ski Valley, Cowboys and Indians Magazine, New Mexico Journey,
Sunset, Wooden Boat, World Wildlife Fund, Carneros
Vineyards, Napa Valley Museum Magazine, Fujinon Optics Newsletter, Western's
World, Ocean Realm, Continental Magazine, the National Geographic Society
for their Desk Diaries and a student book, Portal Publications, along
with many advertising agencies. The advertising industry is accessed
mainly through stock photography agencies such as Panoramic Images.
My images are used in magazine ads, on billboards, and in product promotion
in Europe and Asia, as well as the United States.
I also do assignment shooting, specializing in architecture. Recent
architecture projects have been for Tres Ventanas Architecture, Wayne
Rutherford General Contractor, Inc., Brian Shuter Construction Company,
New Spaces/Rocky Mountain Fever Construction, and Taos Enterprises LLC.
Other assignment work has been for Charles Krug Vineyards, Healthshoes,
ADEPT Inc., and Raffaldini Vineyards, to name a few clients.
My stock library includes images of New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Texas,
the San Francisco Bay Area, California, Oregon, Washington and a number
of other locations.
